WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS

Anne Lindsay of Anne Lindsay Photography has been creating photographic magic for the Seattle and Eastside areas for 10 years now.

Redheads. Businesspersons. Children. Families. Pets. Architecture. Anne’s portraits have captured the essence of all these groups and more. Catching the laugh here, the smile there, in her subjects’ faces has been the mission and the reward of her calling.

Anne’s studio is on the drop-dead gorgeous Pine Lake in Sammamish, Washington. East of Seattle, Bellevue, Lake Washington, and Lake Sammamish (but west of Manhattan), Pine Lake is a hidden oasis amongst the Eastside’s expanding urban sprawl. It's smack between Issaquah and Redmond. Pine Lake offers a hidden oasis where you can relax and let your best self emerge.

Anne's indoor studio can be used for everything from more formal portraits to hair-raising drama. Or, when the weather is clear, take advantage of Anne's gorgeous lakeside carden to serve as the backdrop of your photos.

Should you desire, there are many local and regional parks that make memorable backdrops for your session as well, including Sammamish Commons, Pine Lake ParkBeaver Lake Park and  Marymoor Park and finally, during the rare afternoon of Seattle rain, Anne utilizes her indoor studio for everything from formal portraits to hair-raising heights.

MORE REDHEADS: The Seductive Red Flower

Some of the most notable flowers in nature and in our vases at home are red. We send lovers red roses on valentine's day. red tulips in the spring cheer us up. Of course, there are many more red flowers that catch our eyes in gardens and parks.

Anne had taken her redhead book to the next level, to mother nature herself. Her new book project is an amazing study of luminous red flowers which float on a soft velvet background. Anne has ferreted out amazing redheads from master gardeners, flower growers and flower developers. She had found some in her backyard and at the local grocery store and at the Sammamish Farmer's Market.

Selected quotes from botanical writers, news paper column authors, historical garden tomes and seed packages add zest to the book. See samples of her red flower images and writing on her Redhead and More Redhead Blog.

If you are a grower of incredible redflowers or have created a new red flower and want to be on our mailing list, email us below.

ABOUT ANNE

When did I start shooting? At the Grand Canyon at the age of 6 toting around my brownie camera. I still have my trusty brownie. I was an amateur photographer, capturing images for personal use until my daughter was born in 1997. I attended The Art Institute of Seattle for two years in commercial photography. I have had my own photography business for 10 years.

I’m a black and white sort of person. In fact, they are my favorite colors. Always have been. So if you see me with one black shoe and one white, you’ll know I haven’t lost my marbles. I just adore the combination.

Color photography crept into my pallet about 4 years ago when I went "digital". Almost all of my work was in black and white for the first 6 years. The wonder of digital photography is I can create both color and black and white images.

Most of my work has revolved around portrait work, especially children. However, architecture found a home amongst my clients. Before becoming a photographer, I was an architect for 15 years.

In addition, I have come across some wonderful authors and have collaborated on two published books.

Today, the next step in photography is to create photography books. The first photography book will be stories and images of redheads. The illusive redheads have drawn me into their realm and I feel compelled to create images of them in black and white with their red hair and in color. The redheads included in my book are all REAL redheads. No bottle heads in my book.

Tell me a joke and I'll try to figure out the punch line. I'm not very good at punch lines but I'm really great at photography. I started my life hanging around Olympia, Washington with my family, my trusted brownie camera, my ballet slippers and some art supplies. We lived in the house my grandfather and uncles built. Yep, I'm a third generation Northwesterner I fish, ski, garden, walk the dog, attend swim meets, read, write and photograph everything in sight.

My family and I live on Pine Lake in Sammamish, Washington. It's great to hang out on the end of the dock in the sunshine when it's not raining. The otter, eagles, frogs, deer and trout are wonderful diversions when I'm not clicking the shutter.
